James B. Kennedy
Jim
Kennedy
has worked at the Richmond Metropolitan Authority since 1980 as
Director of Operations. His areas of responsibility include
operation of the Authority's toll road facilities, parking (four
garages, several surface lots and stadium event parking),
management of Main Street Station, and The Diamond baseball
stadium; and supervision of the public relations office, RMA
police officers, engineering department and construction
projects. Additionally, he served as project manager for the
RMA’s electronic toll collection installation, and currently
serves as project manager of the Open Road Tolling project.
Kennedy
is a founding member and former president of the Parking
Association of the Virginias. He has been active in the
International Parking Institute (IPI) for many years. He has
served on the Board of Directors as vice chair and
secretary/treasurer. He was
one of the graduates of IPI’s inaugural Certified Administrator
of Public Parking (CAPP) class.
Kennedy
has been a member of the International Bridge, Tunnel and
Turnpike Association (IBTTA) for more than 25 years and served
as chairman and vice chair of its Operations Committee for four
years each. He has previously served as vice chair of the
Technical Advisory Committee of the Richmond Area Metropolitan
Planning Organization.
He
received a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the
University of Tennessee. In addition, he earned a master’s
degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth
University.
