Accounting and Financial Reporting Analyst

The RMTA is looking for an experienced accounting professional to conduct and coordinate professional accounting work involving the research, analysis, preparation, and maintenance of financial information for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), annual budget, and other financial reports.  Position will support information requests from internal and external users through the analysis of financial and non-financial data from various software systems.  This position reports to the Director of Finance.

This role will perform month-end and year-end financial closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries and identification of variances.  In addition, will assist with development, interpretation, and implementation of accounting related policies and procedures. 

Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or candidate strongly preferred; 2-3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in financial statement preparation and analysis; demonstrated skills with spreadsheet and accounting software systems. Governmental accounting (GASB) experience strongly preferred.

Executive Assistant

The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a full-time Executive Assistant.  Duties include managing calendars for the Chief Executive Officer and executive staff; scheduling all meetings, appointments and conference calls; handle meeting conflicts and prioritization issues.  Responsible for coordinating all logistics for Board meetings, to include: securing meeting rooms, catering and room set-up, materials (i.e. handouts, files), meeting notification and receiving RSVPs, taking notes and minutes of meetings.  Develop, compose, type and proof-read correspondence, reports and other varied material from rough draft or clean copy, using word and spreadsheet software.  Work with the Chief of Staff to develop media responses and handle FOIA requests.  Manage and monitor social media platforms for the RMTA, coordinating responses with the Chief of Staff and commenting as appropriate.
Perform special projects, research and write reports on a variety of transportation related topics as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.
This position will also fill in for receptionist, including but not limited to: providing courteous, accurate and thorough phone coverage, managing incoming mail, packages and messengers, scheduling conference room, and greeting visitors.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Demonstrated ability to produce documents using a personal computer.  Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition; strong attention to detail.  Ability to organize events and meetings, and to prioritize and follow directions.  Demonstrated ability to show integrity, good judgment and to maintain confidentiality.  Ability to provide consistent, high quality customer service.  Excellent oral communication skills.  Experience with writing grants and white papers is helpful.

Required Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in communications, public relations or business.  Prefer two (2) years of secretarial/administrative experience, including demonstrated experience with Outlook, word-processing and spreadsheet software.  Or, any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Lead Police Officer

The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a full-time Lead Police Officer/Conservator of the Peace.  Duties include performing protective service work (including all related aspects of law enforcement), traffic law enforcement, and motorist assistance as well as supervising staff of part-time Special Police Officers.

Requirements:  High School graduate or GED equivalent.  Must have successfully completed a Police Academy program accepted in the Commonwealth of Virginia and be able to be certified as a law enforcement officer in VA.  Must possess a valid VA driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, and eligible for firearms certification.  Must be accessible by phone; able to work on a call-in basis; available to work approximately 40 hours a week with flexible availability, general schedule will be Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend shifts.  Ability to establish and maintain excellent customer relations with RMTA’s patrons and working relationships with other law enforcement agencies in Richmond. 
Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years law enforcement experience, police vehicle operation, and motorist assistance experience.  Traffic control experience is strongly preferred.  Supervisory experience preferred.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must successfully complete drug screening, criminal history background check, driving record check, psychological evaluation, and approval by the Richmond Circuit Court.  Required training will be provided by the RMTA.

Benefits and compensation: The RMTA offers a competitive benefit package which includes medical, dental and life insurance, fully paid retirement, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays and paid time off.  The hiring range is $48,000 - $51,000. Uniforms and firearm provided.
