Accounting and Financial Reporting Analyst
The RMTA is looking for an experienced accounting professional to conduct and coordinate professional accounting work involving the research, analysis, preparation, and maintenance of financial information for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), annual budget, and other financial reports. Position will support information requests from internal and external users through the analysis of financial and non-financial data from various software systems. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
This role will perform month-end and year-end financial closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries and identification of variances. In addition, will assist with development, interpretation, and implementation of accounting related policies and procedures.
Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or candidate strongly preferred; 2-3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in financial statement preparation and analysis; demonstrated skills with spreadsheet and accounting software systems. Governmental accounting (GASB) experience strongly preferred.

This position is responsible for overseeing contract administration, construction monitoring and project acceptance as well as supervising the performance of all maintenance related field activities (janitorial, maintenance and landscaping) for all RMTA facilities and properties, and Main Street Station staff.
- Directs and facilitates all emergency operations. Coordinates all repairs, alterations or renovations with contractors, architectural and engineering consultants, state and local officials. Develops and administers proposals, service and at-will contracts for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life safety, elevator and emergency systems. Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Acts as Project Manager on all facility maintenance projects using RMTA resources and personnel including contract and budget administration, inspection and project acceptance.
- Represents the RMTA with architectural and engineering consultants, federal, state and local officials, contractors, vendors, insurance consultants and commissions as required on existing and proposed maintenance and construction projects.
- Develops Requests for Proposals, review of plans and specifications, bidding, and any other tasks relative to the successful completion of any project.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, successfully completed the Engineer-in-Training examination with at least one (1) year construction inspection experience (preferably in transportation field). Require an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology from an ABET accredited community or technical college or construction manager certification through CMAA, with four (4) years construction inspection experience (preferably in transportation field) required, a minimum of eighteen (18) months experience on projects under the direction of VDOT, or similar organization OR any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Current VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control training certification is highly preferred. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record. Candidates will undergo criminal history investigation and drug screening as a condition of employment.
